Threads of Hope

Mateus was only seven years old and living on the streets when we found him. Violence and instability filled his home, and with no one able to care for him, he was left vulnerable, unseen, and unprotected.

We brought Mateus to our first-ever safe home in Brazil—currently the only one serving the interior of the Amazon. When he arrived, he didn’t speak or make eye contact. He had never been to school, didn’t know how to read or write and was aggressive.

Then something extraordinary happened.

Our Life Impact team wrapped him in love, providing medical care, and psychological counseling. Over time, his heart began to heal. Through therapy, we discovered something remarkable: when we gave him a task, he transformed.

He helped our team build a chicken coop at the safe home— and now he cares for those chickens every day, proudly showing others his work. He laughs. He plays. He’s becoming the little boy he was always meant to be.

By the end of October, we had welcomed six more rescued children. Through partnerships with local authorities, God is opening doors for more rescues across a region where the cries of vulnerable children echo through the Amazon.

These rescues—these stories of hope—are only possible because of you.

When I look back on all that God has done through Life Impact – the hundreds of children we have rescued, the thousands more we have prevented from exploitation, and the countless moments that have shaped this ministry – I stand in awe. As a 24-year-old woman, my initial “yes” to spend 2 months in Thailand turned into 2 years when I took on the responsibility of a pre-existing children’s home that would’ve closed and turned away 52 children had I not stepped up. 

Now 24 years later, Life Impact has grown to 18 family-style safe homes in Thailand, two in Burma, and our first-ever safe home in Brazil, along with serving thousands of children in prevention work in all three countries. Through all of this, I’ve never been alone, because you’ve been with us.   Your generosity, prayers, and steadfast commitment have built this ministry. Ecclesiastes 4:12 captures it best:

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

At Life Impact, those three strands are our team, the children we serve, and YOU, our partners. You’ve given sacrificially what’s in your hands to stand in the gap for vulnerable and exploited children. Your generosity has built safe homes, empowered those who rescue, and brought restoration to countless lives. Without your unwavering belief in Life Impact’s mission to prevent, rescue, and heal, we would not be able to reach children in the darkest places in the world to offer hope and healing. You are more than supporters—you are co-laborers in this fight, forming one of the three vital strands to keep this ministry strong and unbreakable.

Another essential strand in the cord is our staff in Thailand, Burma, and Brazil. They are the heartbeat of Life Impact, heroes who lay down their lives daily to stand between innocent children and the evil of exploitation. They work tirelessly on the frontlines, reaching into the darkest places through prevention, rescue, and healing. They face danger daily, stepping into some of the most profound poverty in the world, and walking hand-in-hand with rescued children through their journey of restoration. Their sacrifice is what turns hope into reality. 

At the center of it all are the children– the reason Life Impact exists. 

Many come from some of the most dangerous regions of the world, where exploitation is a daily threat and innocence is fragile. Many are born into extreme poverty, where parents, trapped in addiction or despair, might sell their own child for drugs or food. In these places, children grow up believing their only future is to become a drug trafficker or the wife of one, repeating the cycle of pain and exploitation. But these precious lives are not forgotten. They are treasures hidden in darkness, waiting to be rescued, healed, and restored. 

Thank you for being a vital thread in this cord of hope. Your generosity, prayers, and unwavering belief in our mission have made you an unshakable part of this three-strand cord—partners, staff, and the children we serve—all working together with one mission: to prevent exploitation, rescue the vulnerable, and bring healing to the broken. Because of you, darkness is pushed back, and lives are transformed. Together, we are strong. Together, we are unbreakable. Three strands, one mission.
