Myanmar Safe Home

Last month, three of our missionaries had the opportunity to visit our children’s home in Myanmar (Burma).

Most of the children there were orphaned by cyclone Nargis. On May 3, 2008, the cyclone hit the country of Burma and leftover one million people dead and another million destitute and dying. In the midst of this great tragedy, many children were orphaned, left as prey for human traffickers.

Miraculously, our team rescued 27 children from the devastated Delta region, just before the others were taken by the Burmese military junta who immediately gathered all the orphans to be used as child soldiers, child wives, or slave laborers.

Since the cyclone, the orphanage has become home to 18 more children for a total of 45. Children have been rescued from abuse, abandonment, and other desperate situations. Despite that these children have lost all they had, they are full of joy and full of hope.

A few members of the Life Impact Thailand team visit every four months. The spiritual growth we see in the children is astounding on each trip. They are growing up to be young men and women of God, shining lights in a dark place. We believe they will truly change their generation and their country for the Kingdom.
